NICU Registered Nurse

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract. You'll join a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit providing comprehensive care to critically ill and premature infants requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support.

Shift & Schedule

  • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (night shift)
  • Every other weekend
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to high-risk neonates, managing patients on ventilators, CPAP, umbilical lines, and other advanced equipment
  • Assess and respond to changes in neonatal condition; escalate care as needed
  • Administer medications and titratable drips with precise neonatal dosing
  • Support thermoregulation, feeding, and developmental care
  • Perform rapid response and resuscitation interventions
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
  • Educate families on infant condition, treatment, and care (including kangaroo care)
  • Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
  • Maintain infection control and safety protocols for immunocompromised patients

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (or compact license as applicable)
  • BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Minimum 1+ year NICU experience
  • Experience with high-risk neonates, ventilator management, and isolette/warmer care

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN (ADN accepted per facility policy)
  • RNC-NIC certification
  • 2+ years NICU experience
  • Detail-oriented, organized personality

Candidates may float to Pediatrics, PICU, or Mother Baby (neonatal care only).
