Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Fairfield, CA | 13-Week Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to join its obstetric team. You'll provide comprehensive, relationship-based nursing care to laboring patients and their families during one of life's most significant moments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery, including assessment and interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
• Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and provide epidural support per physician orders
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support during cesarean sections
• Recognize and respond to high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with appropriate interventions
• Perform immediate newborn care and resuscitation support as needed
• Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management options, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams on the plan of care
• Document labor progress and nursing interventions accurately in the medical record

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (or compact license)
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Minimum 1+ year of labor & delivery experience
• Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetrics, and vaginal/cesarean deliveries
• Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Additional Information

• Preferred start date: August 21 or September 11, 2026
• Overtime after 40 hours per week; double time after 12 hours per day
• Willingness to float to other departments and sister facilities as needed and qualified
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
