PICU Nurse – Night Shift
Location: Cleveland, OH
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 days per week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role
The facility's PICU provides comprehensive critical care for infants, children, and adolescents up to age 25 with complex medical and surgical conditions. As a night shift PICU nurse, you will deliver direct, intensive care to critically ill patients, manage advanced monitoring equipment, administer titratable medications including inotropes, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on patient care plans. You'll support families through education and involvement in daily care decisions while maintaining vigilance for acute changes and responding to codes as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric and adolescent patients
- Monitor hemodynamic status and respond to clinical changes; manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and advanced life support equipment
- Administer medications with precise pediatric dosing; manage inotropes and drips per physician orders
- Assess and document patient condition, interventions, and responses in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with the intensivist team and interdisciplinary staff on plan of care
- Support family-centered care and provide age-appropriate patient education
- Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
Required Qualifications
- 18 months of permanent PICU or pediatric critical care experience (prior to any travel assignments)
- Active RN license in Ohio or compact license in hand at time of submission
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (active and current)
- EKG rhythm recognition and competency with inotropes
- NIHSS certification preferred
- One supervisor or manager reference from the past 12 months required (no peer references)
Additional Information
- You must work at least every other holiday
- ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety assessment during orientation (passing score required; 2 attempts allowed)
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Background check and drug screen required
