Operating Room Nurse – General Surgery & Multi-Specialty

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: 4 x 10-hour day shifts, rotating start times (6:30a, 9a, 11a based on departmental needs). No weekends, no major holidays, no on-call required.

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: September 7, 2026

Requirements:

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 2+ years of OR experience circulating
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• CNOR certification preferred

Role:

You'll support a busy operating room performing circulating and/or scrub nursing across a range of surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, and ENT.

Responsibilities include:

• Circulate and/or scrub surgical cases; prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each procedure
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout surgical procedures
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and proper function
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the surgical team to ensure efficient case flow
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery
• Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status
