Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN – Night Shift

Location: Akron, OH

Shift & Duration: Night shift, 3 × 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 13–20 week contract options

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN to join the night team. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, with a focus on continuous cardiac monitoring and acute care management.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients, including wound care and pain management
• Care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on care coordination and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient response accurately
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio or compact state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 18 months recent, permanent Med-Surg Telemetry experience required
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and ACLS certification (active and in hand at submission)
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency required
• One reference from a manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty (from past 12 months)
