Labor & Delivery RN — Night Shift
Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
Contract Duration: 13+ weeks
Start Date: September 22, 2026
The Role
Join the labor and delivery team providing direct nursing care to laboring patients throughout active labor and delivery. You'll monitor maternal and fetal status, assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and contractions, and manage high-risk obstetric conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress. Responsibilities include medication administration (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support), assisting with vaginal deliveries, providing circulating support during cesarean sections, and delivering immediate newborn resuscitation when needed. You'll educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options, collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams, and accurately document all care in the EMR.
Requirements
- Active RN license in New York (or compact license)
- Minimum 2 years recent L&D experience; U.S. work experience required for non-U.S. candidates
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- Experience with high-risk OB, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and fetal monitoring
Schedule & Flexibility
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Minimum 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Must work at least 1 holiday during contract
- Block scheduling available upon request (not guaranteed)
- May float to mother/baby and newborn nursery as needed
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
