Cath Lab Technologist

Bakersfield, CA | 13-Week Contract | Day Shift (7 AM–7 PM)

About the Role

The facility's cath lab is a high-volume cardiac intervention center performing 10–22 cases daily across five suites. You'll work as part of a skilled team delivering diagnostic angiograms, coronary interventions (PCI/stent), peripheral and vascular procedures, electrophysiology cases, and neuro interventions. This is a STEMI-receiving facility with a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Scrub and/or monitor hemodynamics during cardiac catheterization procedures
  • Operate fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
  • Prepare sterile fields, instruments, and supplies
  • Administer contrast and medications per protocol
  • Monitor vital signs and alert the team to hemodynamic changes
  • Manage patient airway, conscious sedation support, and cardiac drips (Integrilin, dopamine, vasopressors, balloon pumps)
  • Ensure radiation safety compliance
  • Document procedures and patient data accurately
  • Assist with post-procedure care, including sheath removal and site management

Requirements

  • ARRT certification with Fluoroscopy endorsement (RCIS/CCT not accepted)
  • BLS certification
  • Current state radiologic technology license
  • Minimum 1+ years cath lab experience required
  • Comfortable with conscious and moderate sedation, procedural processes, and airway management

Schedule & On-Call

  • 10- or 12-hour shifts; flexible scheduling available
  • Open to block scheduling Friday–Sunday
  • Call rotation: 1× per week (inpatient/emergent cases)
  • Weekend call: 1 weekend per month (Friday evening–Monday AM)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • First-time travelers welcome

Contract Details

  • 91 weeks
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week period (or pay in lieu)
