Labor & Delivery Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a 17-week contract. You'll work nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- 1+ years current L&D experience
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN preferred)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Must be within 100 miles of the facility and have an active driver's license
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to laboring patients; monitor maternal and fetal status continuously
- Assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions; escalate concerns promptly
- Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support) per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries; provide circulating support for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk obstetric conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with emergency protocols
- Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Educate patients and families on labor progression and pain management options
- Document labor progress and interventions accurately in the electronic health record
Shift Details
- 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Guaranteed hours throughout contract
