Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights
Location: Nashville, TN
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role
The facility's Progressive Care Unit combines acute care and step-down nursing in a focused environment. You'll care for patients transitioning from intensive care or at risk of clinical deterioration, managing moderate-acuity cases that require close monitoring but not full ICU-level intervention.
Unit Composition:
- 22 acute care beds
- 8 neuro step-down beds
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care with strong time management and critical thinking
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry; respond promptly to changes in condition
- Administer medications and manage titrating drips per physician orders
- Perform common bedside procedures including lumbar punctures and chest tube placements
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on care plans
- Conduct bedside shift reports and participate in daily unit huddles
- Educate patients and families on treatment and recovery
- Ensure infection control and fall prevention standards are maintained
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 1+ years of PCU or step-down experience preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- PCCN certification preferred
