Labor & Delivery Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a registered nurse for its Labor & Delivery unit on a 13-week contract. This is a night shift position (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with 36 guaranteed hours per week.

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Minimum 1+ years of L&D experience
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
• Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal/cesarean deliveries

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to laboring patients, monitoring maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
• Assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions, escalating concerns appropriately
• Administer medications including labor induction/augmentation agents and epidural support per physician orders
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
• Manage high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with emergency protocols
• Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support as needed
• Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management options, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
• Accurately document all care in the medical record
• Support patients and families through the emotional and physical journey of childbirth
