Oncology Nurse – Night Shift
Location: Wichita, KS
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 4 x 12 nights
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 48 per week
About the Role
Join the oncology unit at the facility to provide compassionate, skilled nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. You'll work with patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy, managing complex care needs and supporting families through their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and antineoplastic agents per physician orders and safety protocols
- Assess patients pre-, during, and post-treatment; monitor for adverse reactions and side effects
- Initiate and manage vascular access (peripheral IVs, PICC lines, implanted ports)
- Manage treatment-related symptoms (nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia)
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, self-care strategies, and side effects
- Provide emotional support and collaborate with the interdisciplinary oncology team
- Document assessments and patient response accurately in the medical record
- Adhere to safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required
- 1+ years of oncology nursing experience
- Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
Standard Requirements
Current immunizations, TB screening, background check, and drug screen per facility policy.
