Progressive Care Unit – Night Shift

Location: Atlanta, GA
Shift: 11 PM – 7 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: Mondays beginning October 19, 2026
Scrubs: Navy blue
Travel Radius: 50-mile radius; local travelers only
About the Role
You'll provide direct nursing care to high-acuity cardiac patients in a progressive care setting. This unit specializes in heart failure, arrhythmias, post-cardiac procedures, and heart transplant/LVAD patients. You'll manage 4–5 patients, combining telemetry monitoring with active procedural support and medication management.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring
- Administer cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, nitroglycerin
- Manage chest tubes, sheath removal, TR band care, and groin site management post-catheterization
- Assess and respond to hemodynamic changes, fluid overload, and rhythm disturbances
- Support patients undergoing cardioversion, ablation, pacemaker placement, and ICD procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on patient transitions and care planning
- Respond to rapid response and code situations
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
- Must pass a proctored, paper-based dysrhythmia exam on first attempt (calipers required; no remediation)
- Demonstrated competency with cardiac drips and telemetry interpretation
- Chest tube experience
- Ability to float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed
Preferred: BSN, PCCN certification, heart transplant or LVAD experience (training available)
