Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Position Overview

The facility seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for an 8-hour day shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) in an active nuclear medicine department. This is a 13-week contract with guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Current NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification
  • California radiologic/nuclear medicine license
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of nuclear medicine experience
  • Proficiency with radiopharmaceutical preparation, handling, and radiation safety protocols

Clinical Scope

You'll perform a diverse range of imaging studies including cardiac imaging, SPECT scans, bone scans, bleed studies, and gastric emptying studies. The department processes 5–10 studies daily. You'll prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals per physician orders, operate imaging equipment, calculate dosages, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and ensure ALARA principles are followed. Documentation will be completed in the department's RIS/PACS system.

Schedule & Call

  • Days: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Rotating call after 4:30 PM on weekdays
  • Rotating weekend on-call with other staff
  • Rotating holiday on-call coverage
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

Float Requirements

You may be floated to a sister facility approximately 6.5 miles away as needed.
