Emergency Department Nurse
Position Overview
The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract. You'll work nights (7 PM – 7 AM) on a 3-day/12-hour schedule with weekend requirements (6 days per 6-week rotation). This is a full-time role with 1 open position.
Your Responsibilities
- and assess incoming patients to determine acuity and prioritize care
- Provide rapid, comprehensive nursing care across a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and protocols
- Respond to trauma activations, codes, and rapid deterioration with appropriate emergency interventions
- Monitor and manage patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions, follow-up care, and treatment plans
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the medical record
- Maintain patient flow and throughput in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ensure infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols are followed
Requirements
- Active RN license in Texas or compact license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing accepted per facility policy
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (AHA only)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) preferred
- Minimum 1+ years of ER experience required
- Demonstrated ability in protocols and high-acuity, fast-paced environments
Onboarding
New hires will complete orientation with a designated preceptor, including Emergency Department-specific competency validation within the first 30 days.
