Oncology Med/Tele RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Oncology Med/Tele unit. You'll provide direct care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, managing complex medical and telemetry needs in a fast-paced inpatient setting.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Weekend commitment: 1 shift per week or 2 shifts every other weekend
- Block scheduling: Can be requested (not guaranteed)
- Float requirement: May be asked to support other units as needed
- Minimum 1 holiday shift required during contract
Clinical Scope
You'll care for patients with oncology diagnoses including osteomyelitis, chemotherapy side effects, small bowel obstructions, and sepsis. Responsibilities include:
- Administering chemotherapy and biotherapy per protocols
- Managing vascular access (peripheral IVs, PICC lines, implanted ports)
- Assessing patients before, during, and after treatment for adverse reactions
- Managing treatment-related symptoms (nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia)
- Educating patients and families on treatment plans and self-care
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary oncology team
- Adhering to safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs
Requirements
- Active RN license in New York (or compact license)
- BLS certification required
- 1+ years recent experience in acute med/surg or telemetry with oncology experience
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred
- Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills
- Non-U.S. candidates: 2+ years U.S. work experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Contract Duration: 16 weeks
