Vascular Surgery OR Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced OR nurse for its vascular surgery program. This is a 13-week contract position working day shift.
Shift & Schedule
- 4 x 10-hour days: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- 1–2 call shifts per week
- Day shift only
Requirements
- Active RN license: permanent Ohio or compact state license required at time of submission
- Minimum 18 months of permanent vascular surgery OR experience
- BLS and ACLS certification (active and in hand)
- One professional reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director required; references must be from work in the past 12 months
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions available)
Responsibilities
- Provide circulating and/or scrub support during vascular surgical procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
- Perform pre-operative assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedure
- Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts
- Monitor patient status and safety throughout cases
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the surgical team
- Document intraoperative care in the facility's charting system
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-op handoff
Additional Information
- ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety assessments required during orientation (two attempts maximum)
- Annual hands-on competency required for nurses on continuous or returning contracts
- Pre-start orientation modules average 6–15 hours
- Background check and credentialing required within 48 hours of contract signature
