Labor & Delivery RN – High-Risk Antepartum Unit

Location: Asheville, NC

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to join a high-risk antepartum unit. You'll provide direct care to patients with complex pregnancies, managing maternal and fetal monitoring, labor progression, and delivery support in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
• Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
• Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support) per orders
• Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care
• Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• 2+ years of L&D experience (high-risk OB experience preferred)
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• Comfort with immediate newborn care and resuscitation

Preferred

• BSN degree
• Circulating experience
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification

Float Requirements

May float to L&D, Mother-Baby, or NICU as needed.
