Cardiac ICU | Travel RN | Asheville, NC

Nights | 13-Week Contract

This night-shift opportunity places you in a cardiac intensive care unit managing high-acuity patients, including post-cardiothoracic surgery cases and complex cardiac presentations. The unit runs RN-only staffing — no unit secretaries or patient care technicians — making independent critical thinking and strong clinical skills essential.

Shift & Schedule

7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 12-hour shifts
36 hours/week with alternating weekend requirement
Start date: August 17, 2026
Contract length: 13 weeks

Clinical Scope

Titration of vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, and vesicant medications
Mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy management
Hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter setup and interpretation
Transvenous pacing, cardioversion, and TEE
Mechanical circulatory support: IABP, Impella, CRRT
Procedures performed on unit: central line insertion, cardioversion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, thoracentesis, EGD
Float requirement: travelers may be floated to other areas as needed

Certifications & Licensure

Active RN license (NC or applicable compact)
BLS and ACLS required
CCRN preferred; IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience highly valued

Dress Code

All navy or navy and white scrubs required
No pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs

Ideal Candidate

Minimum 1 year of CVICU or cardiac critical care experience
Proficient in telemetry interpretation and hemodynamic management
Comfortable practicing autonomously in an RN-only environment
