Neurosurgical Medical-Surgical RN — Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced RN for its neurosurgical med-surg unit on the night shift. You'll care for adult patients undergoing and recovering from neuro surgical procedures, as well as those with acute neurological diagnoses. This is a 13-week contract with the possibility to extend.
Shift & Scheduling
- Schedule: Night shift, 3 × 12-hour (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Staffing: Manager-scheduled; 12–16 weekend shifts required per contract (flexible and open to discussion)
- Float requirement: Yes — you may float to other units as needed
- Return-to-origin: Up to 7 days approved; no RTO during your first week
Patient Care
- Patient ratio: 1:5–6
- Patient population: Adults with neuro surgical diagnoses and procedures
- Scope: Assessment, medication administration, pre- and post-operative care, wound management, pain control, patient/family education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate EMR documentation
- Support available: IV teams, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, and more
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- BLS/ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Neuro experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Unit Details
- Scrubs: Navy
- Orientation: 2 shifts on unit (after hospital orientation)
- Note: You may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
Additional Information
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions available)
- Former facility employees must wait 12 months before applying
