Interventional Radiology Technologist
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to join a busy IR suite. You'll work alongside interventional radiologists and a collaborative care team to support a wide range of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. This is a 13-week contract position with an immediate start date.
Shift & Schedule
- 4 × 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Includes weekends and holidays
- No on-call required
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during complex vascular and interventional procedures including thrombectomies, AAA, TEVAR, FEVAR, embolizations, biopsies, and drain placements
- Operate fluoroscopy and angiography equipment; troubleshoot imaging systems in collaboration with biomedical engineers
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and specialty devices (laser, Penumbra, Inari, shockwave)
- Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic status; manage contrast administration
- Manage vascular access sites, including sheath removal and hematoma assessment
- Ensure radiation safety and ALARA principles throughout procedures
- Document procedures accurately and participate in supply management
- Respond quickly to emergency situations; discuss procedural plans with the physician team
- Cross-train as departmental needs require
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Radiologic or Cardiovascular Technology program
- ARRT-R with Vascular-Interventional (VI) or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CI) credential; OR RCIS certification
- State radiologic technology license (as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of IR experience
- Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy, sterile technique, and radiation safety
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multiple wire exchanges and specialty devices
- Intermediate x-ray equipment troubleshooting capability
- Ability to mentor new staff and students
