Cardiovascular OR Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nurse to join the surgical team. You will provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support for high-acuity cardiac and thoracic surgical cases, including CABG, valve repairs and replacements, and aortic repairs.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• 13-week contract
• Start date: June 29, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Provide circulating and/or scrub support during cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile field, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment
• Coordinate with the perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
• Monitor patient hemodynamics throughout complex cases
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff
• Document procedural details and patient data per facility standards
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-op handoff to critical care staff

Requirements

• Active RN license (Texas or compact)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CNOR certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience
• Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
