NICU Registered Nurse – 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract position in its neonatal intensive care unit. This is a night shift role (7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 4 days per week) providing direct care to critically ill and premature neonates.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Minimum 1 year NICU experience
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- RNC-NIC certification preferred
- Experience with ventilator management, high-risk neonates, and thermoregulation care
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, direct nursing care to high-acuity premature and critically ill neonates
- Monitor vital signs and clinical status; escalate changes promptly
- Administer medications and titratable drips with precise neonatal dosing
- Manage advanced life support equipment (ventilators, CPAP, umbilical lines, isolettes)
- Support developmental care, feeding, and thermoregulation needs
- Perform rapid response and resuscitation interventions as needed
- Collaborate with neonatologists and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care
- Educate and support families, including kangaroo care guidance
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and infection control protocols
Contract Details
- Location: Wichita, KS
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Night shift, 4 × 12 hours (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
- Guaranteed 48 hours per week
