NICU Registered Nurse — Travel Contract

Greenville, SC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This high-acuity NICU position cares for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, encompassing a broad range of complex diagnoses and surgical conditions. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and social services.

Shift Options

  • 4x12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) — no call required
  • 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) — with at least one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly
  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend (subject to change based on need)
  • Float to other NICU units or campuses may be required based on census

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Neonates with diagnoses including HIE, RDS, NAS/drug exposure, sepsis, hypoglycemia, abdominal wall defects, TEF, duodenal atresia, diaphragmatic hernia, myelomeningocele, and ROP.

Special procedures include therapeutic whole-body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, Avastin administration, laser eye surgery, and surgical support for non-cardiac anomalies.

Required Competencies

  • NICU Level II and III experience required; minimum 2 years of experience
  • Proficiency with high-frequency ventilation, HFNC, bubble CPAP, UAC/UVC lines, arterial line management, and umbilical catheters
  • Neonatal dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, nitric oxide, and surfactant administration
  • Therapeutic hypothermia, chest tube management, VP shunt awareness, and ostomy care

Certifications & Licensure

  • BLS, NRP, and STABLE required
  • Active South Carolina RN license required
  • Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted

Additional Notes

  • Minimum 1 year of electronic medical records experience required
  • Flu vaccine required; no exemptions accepted
  • Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of contract start (up to 16 module hours are reimbursable)
