Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse – Night Shift
Location: Atlanta, GA
Shift: Nights, 12-hour
Contract Duration: 16 weeks
Start Date: September 21, 2026
About the Role
Join the facility's progressive care team as a Float Pool RN, providing nursing care to cardiac patients requiring closer monitoring than general medical-surgical units but not full ICU-level care. You will float across all PCU and intermediate care unit (IMCU) floors, managing a patient load of 3–4 per shift.
Clinical Scope
You'll care for patients with acute cardiac conditions including STEMI, NSTEMI, and chest pain presentations. Your responsibilities include:
- Continuous cardiac rhythm and vital sign monitoring, with rapid response to clinical changes
- Administration of cardiac drips (Milrinone, Dobutamine, pressors) and other IV medications per physician orders
- Assessment and management of patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of deterioration
- Telemetry monitoring of lower-acuity cardiac patients
- Collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team
- Patient and family education on condition, treatment, and recovery
- Documentation in the electronic medical record
- Infection control and fall prevention protocol compliance
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1+ year PCU/step-down experience
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- PCCN certification preferred
Minimal orientation required. Minimal call/on-call expectations.
