Operating Room Nurse – 16-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility's operating room is seeking an experienced OR nurse for a 16-week assignment. You'll work day shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), three 12-hour shifts per week, supporting a diverse surgical service line across multiple specialties.

Clinical Scope

You'll provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, transplant (solid organ), ENT, plastics, bariatric, and ophthalmology cases. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and maintaining sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Pre-operative assessments and surgical site verification
• Accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts throughout procedures
• Patient positioning, prepping, and post-op PACU handoff
• Monitoring patient safety and status during surgery
• Documenting intraoperative care in the EMR
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical teams

Requirements

• 4 years of OR experience required; must include demonstrated competency in neurosurgery, transplant, general surgery, GYN, and orthopedic cases
• Active RN license (GA or compact license required)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
• Travel experience required

Schedule & Logistics

• Day shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Float required within facility scope and to outpatient as needed
• Weekend and call coverage to be discussed at interview
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract
• No time off during orientation week or blackout dates (11/23–11/29, 12/21–1/3)
