Operating Room RN – 16-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility's OR is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3x12-hour schedule) across multiple surgical specialties. You'll work in a dynamic environment supporting general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, plastics, bariatric, transplant, and ophthalmology cases.
Key Requirements
- 4 years of OR experience required — no first-time travelers
- Must have demonstrated experience in: General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, GYN, and Transplant (solid organ)
- Active RN license (Georgia or Compact)
- BLS certification required
- Ability to function as circulating and/or scrub nurse across surgical specialties
What You'll Do
- Provide circulating and scrub support across high-acuity surgical cases
- Maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment
- Perform pre-operative assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedure
- Execute accurate counts (instruments, sponges, needles) before, during, and after procedures
- Monitor patient safety and status throughout surgery
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical team members
- Document care accurately in the facility's charting system
- Float within facility scope of practice and to outpatient as needed
Contract Details
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Shift: Day, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Float: Required within facility and to outpatient as needed
- Call/Weekend: Variable — details to be discussed at interview
- Time Off: Maximum 7 days per contract; holiday blackout dates 11/23–11/29 and 12/21–1/3
- Orientation: 36 hours
