CVOR – Cardiovascular Operating Room
Location: Houston, TX
Shift: 06:30–17:00 (4 × 10 days per week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
About the Role
The facility's cardiovascular operating room performs complex cardiac and vascular surgeries including coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve repairs and replacements (AVR/MVR), aortic repairs, thoracic cases, and advanced procedures such as Impella/ECMO insertion and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). You'll provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field, cardiac instruments, and specialized equipment
- Coordinate with the perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
- Monitor hemodynamics and patient status throughout complex procedures
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts
- Manage medications and emergency cardiac equipment
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff
- Document procedural details and patient data per facility standards
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of exclusive CVOR experience (cardiac and vascular)
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CNOR certification preferred

- Weekend call is required
- Float assignments include main OR, catheterization lab, and interventional radiology
- Black scrubs provided
