Labor & Delivery Nurse – Nights

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse to join the maternal-child health team. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients, newborns, and families across the continuum of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

Shift & Schedule

  • 4 twelve-hour night shifts (7 p.m.–7 a.m.)
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • 13-week contract
  • 48 guaranteed hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (New Hampshire or compact)
  • Minimum 5 years Labor & Delivery experience
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
  • Circulation and GYN surgical experience; willingness to care for general postop patients
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal and cesarean deliveries

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN (ADN accepted per facility policy)
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor; assess and interpret fetal heart rate and contraction patterns
  • Administer labor medications and support epidural management per physician orders
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
  • Manage high-risk obstetric conditions with appropriate interventions
  • Provide immediate newborn resuscitation support
  • Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
  • Document care accurately in the medical record
