Labor & Delivery Nurse – Nights
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse to join the maternal-child health team. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients, newborns, and families across the continuum of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Shift & Schedule
- 4 twelve-hour night shifts (7 p.m.–7 a.m.)
- Every 3rd weekend required
- 13-week contract
- 48 guaranteed hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (New Hampshire or compact)
- Minimum 5 years Labor & Delivery experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
- Circulation and GYN surgical experience; willingness to care for general postop patients
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal and cesarean deliveries
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN (ADN accepted per facility policy)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor; assess and interpret fetal heart rate and contraction patterns
- Administer labor medications and support epidural management per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk obstetric conditions with appropriate interventions
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation support
- Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document care accurately in the medical record
