Emergency Department Nurse – Nights
Location: Wichita, KS
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 4 x 12 (nights)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
About the Role
The facility's emergency department is seeking a compassionate, quick-thinking RN to deliver direct patient care in a high-volume setting that regularly manages behavioral health patients alongside traditional emergency cases. You'll work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic, stressful environment where critical thinking and decisive judgment are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessment and to determine acuity and care priorities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care across emergent and urgent conditions
- Respond to codes, trauma activations, and acute patient deterioration
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
- Maintain infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols
- Support patient flow in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- 1+ years of emergency department experience
- Proficiency with protocols and high-acuity environments
- ADN or BSN
Preferred Qualifications
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
