Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Friday–Sunday
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
About the Role
The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN to provide direct care to laboring patients and support safe deliveries. You'll monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor, interpret fetal heart rate patterns and contractions, and escalate concerns promptly. Your responsibilities include assisting with vaginal deliveries, providing circulating support for cesarean sections, managing high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress), and supporting immediate newborn care and resuscitation.
You'll administer labor medications, educate patients and families on pain management and postpartum care, and collaborate closely with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and the neonatal team. Accurate documentation and compassionate support throughout childbirth are core to this role.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Iowa (or compact license)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Minimum 1+ year of L&D experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
