Labor & Delivery – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a night shift role (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Start date: September 21, 2026
  • California RN license required (in hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience in specialty required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Intermediate or Advanced preferred)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; no exemptions

Clinical Responsibilities

You will provide direct care to laboring patients, including:

  • Continuous fetal heart rate and contraction monitoring; escalating concerns appropriately
  • Assessment and support of high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress)
  • Medication administration for labor induction, augmentation, and epidural support
  • Assistance with vaginal deliveries and circulating support for cesarean sections
  • Immediate newborn care and resuscitation support as needed
  • Patient and family education on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum care
  • Collaborative care with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
  • Documentation in the facility's charting system (training provided)

Additional Information

  • California license must be presented at time of submission
  • Required onsite courses (Assaultive Behavior and Fire Card) must be completed within 30 days of start
  • Documentation deadline: 2 Mondays prior to start date
  • No floating required for L&D roles
