Cardiovascular Progressive Care RN — Night Shift | Asheville, NC
13-Week Travel Contract | Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Start: June 15, 2026
This Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) step-down unit specializes in post-surgical and medical cardiology patients. The primary population includes post-operative CV and vascular surgery patients recovering from procedures such as open heart surgery (CABG, valve replacements, Bentall), TAVR, thoracic surgeries (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies. The unit also receives overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with heart failure, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and DKA.
Key Clinical Responsibilities:
- Epidural and chest tube management
- Tube feeding management
- IV glucose protocol management
- Cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
- Continuous telemetry monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
Requirements:
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS required; PCCN preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- Minimum 1 year of step-down/PCU experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Prior CV or vascular surgery population experience strongly preferred
Schedule & Additional Details:
- Shift: 18:45–07:15 (nights)
- Weekend requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Holiday flexibility required
- No on-call required
- Float: Step-down, med-surg, or ER inpatient holding units
- Scrub colors: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
