Labor & Delivery Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced L&D nurse for a 13-week night contract. You'll work 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), four days per week, providing comprehensive care to laboring patients and supporting deliveries in a busy obstetric unit.

Requirements

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetrics, and vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
  • Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and provide epidural support per physician orders
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
  • Manage high-risk obstetric complications (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with appropriate interventions
  • Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation as needed
  • Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management options, and postpartum care
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams
  • Document labor progress and interventions accurately in the medical record
  • Provide compassionate support throughout the childbirth experience

  • Guaranteed 48 hours per week
