Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Med-Surg Telemetry nurse for night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) on a 13-week contract. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, with a focus on continuous cardiac monitoring and acute patient management.

Shift & Schedule

  • Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • Weekend coverage expected

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to rhythm changes and acute condition changes
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips
  • Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
  • Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team on care plans and discharge planning
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR
  • Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
  • Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active RN license in Ohio or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 18 months recent Med-Surg Telemetry experience (combined permanent employment)
  • BLS and ACLS certification (active and in hand)
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start
  • Strong telemetry and EKG interpretation skills
  • One professional reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in Med-Surg/Telemetry (from past 12 months)

  • ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate assessments during orientation (passing score required)
