Med Surg Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Med Surg Telemetry nurse for a 13-week night shift contract. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions on a telemetry unit.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
  • Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
  • Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care and discharge planning
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record
  • Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (Ohio or compact state license required in hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 18 months recent Med Surg Telemetry experience (combined permanent employment)
  • BLS and ACLS certification (active and current)
  • NIH certification (must obtain prior to start)
  • Strong telemetry and EKG interpretation competency
  • One professional reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director required (from past 12 months)

  • COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions available)
  • Background check and drug screening
  • ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety assessments completed during orientation; acceptable scores required
