Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract in a medical-surgical unit serving adult patients with diverse diagnoses and acuity levels. This role includes general surgery, bariatric surgery, and head/neck surgery patients, with specialized care for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Start Date: September 21, 2026

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact license)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
• Minimum 1+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Ability to manage diverse patient caseloads with varying acuity levels

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to adult patients across multiple surgical and medical conditions
• Assess, monitor, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Uphold infection control and fall prevention protocols
