Operating Room Nurse

Location: Machias, ME

Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM (8-hour shifts)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: August 24, 2026

About the Role

The facility's operating room is seeking a skilled OR nurse to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered perioperative care. You will work across multiple surgical specialties in both scrub and circulating roles, including general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, and ENT cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate across a variety of surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each case
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout procedures
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the surgical team to ensure smooth case flow
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery
• Document intraoperative care accurately

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum 1+ year of general OR experience
• Ability to function in both scrub and circulating roles across surgical specialties

Preferred

• BSN degree
• CNOR certification
• Current COVID-19 vaccination
