Medical-Surgical Nurse

Location: Smyrna, TN

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Positions Available: 2–3

About the Role

The facility is seeking Medical-Surgical nurses to provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions. You'll manage patients across varying acuity levels, including those with chronic and acute diagnoses such as diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care and collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)

Requirements

• Active RN license in state of practice (compact license accepted as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
• Minimum 1+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Ability to manage diverse patient populations and diagnoses
