Location: Syracuse, NY
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM (10-hour days)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
On-Call: 1–2 weeknights per week; 1 weekend per month
About the Role
The facility's cardiac catheterization lab is seeking an experienced RN to provide direct patient care and procedural support for diagnostic angiograms, PCI/stent placements, and device implants. You'll monitor hemodynamic status, administer medications and sedation, manage vascular access sites, and respond to emergent complications. Your role includes both circulating and monitoring responsibilities, pre-procedure patient education, and post-procedure recovery care.
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 3+ years of cath lab RN experience
- Ability to respond to on-call cases
Preferred
- RCIS certification
- Experience with scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring
- Familiarity with cath lab equipment and protocols
- BSN
What You'll Do
- Prepare and educate patients before procedures; provide discharge instructions after
- Monitor vital signs and alert the team to hemodynamic changes
- Administer medications, sedation, and contrast per protocol
- Assist physicians during procedures
- Manage sheath removal and hemostasis
- Respond to arrhythmias, hemorrhage, and vasovagal reactions
- Document thoroughly in the EMR
- Collaborate with cardiologists, techs, and the care team
