Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Registered Nurse

Location: Decatur, GA

Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3 × 12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced RN to join its Progressive Care Unit. You'll care for moderate-acuity patients who require closer monitoring than a general medical-surgical unit but do not require ICU-level interventions. This is ideal for nurses transitioning patients from ICU or managing those at risk of clinical deterioration.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) per facility acuity guidelines
• Assess and monitor patients transitioning from acute care
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on their condition and recovery process
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Minimum 18 months of PCU/step-down experience
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN
• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
