Interventional Radiology Technologist
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to join the IR team for a 13-week contract. You'll work four 10-hour shifts per week (7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) and will be on-call for weekends and holidays.
Clinical Scope
You'll assist physicians during advanced minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including pulmonary thrombectomies, AAA repairs, TEVAR, FEVAR, embolizations, drain placements, angiograms, biopsies, and stent placements. This role requires intermediate troubleshooting knowledge of x-ray equipment and the ability to work with specialty devices (laser, Penumbra, Inari, shockwave systems).
Key Responsibilities
- Circulate, monitor, and scrub all interventional vascular procedures
- Operate fluoroscopy and angiography equipment; manage imaging angles and panning
- Prepare sterile fields and manage supplies with procedural charging documentation
- Manage access sites: assess for hematoma, remove sheaths, and perform site care
- Monitor vital signs and hemodynamic status; alert the team to changes
- Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
- Ensure radiation safety protocols (ALARA principles)
- Troubleshoot imaging equipment in collaboration with biomedical engineers
- Communicate effectively with physicians and the care team during complex, high-risk procedures
- Cross-train to support departmental needs
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Radiologic or Cardiovascular Technology program
- ARRT-R with VI (Vascular-Interventional) or CV (Cardiovascular-Interventional) credential, OR RCIS certification
- BLS and ACLS certification
- 1+ years of IR experience
- State radiologic technology license (as applicable)
