Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a registered nurse for its Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit. This is a night shift contract role providing winter coverage.
Shift & Duration
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Contract Length: 18 weeks (13 weeks also available)
- Start Date: September 25, 2026
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (the facility or compact state license in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 18 months of permanent telemetry or medical/surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Willingness to obtain NIHSS certification prior to start
- One manager, charge RN, or supervisor reference from the past 12 months (required for submission)
- COVID-19 and flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide continuous cardiac monitoring and nursing care to patients with acute conditions
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and identify arrhythmias; escalate care as needed
- Administer medications, including cardiac drips and antiarrhythmics
- Assess and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team on the plan of care
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions
- Patient and family education on cardiac conditions and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
- Follow infection control and fall prevention protocols
Onboarding
You will complete an ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety assessment during orientation. Both require passing scores.
