Staff RN – Medical-Surgical Nursing

Location: Le Mars, IA

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating day and night schedule

Start Date: July 16, 2026

About the Role

The facility is seeking a Staff RN to join its medical-surgical unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, including chronic and acute diagnoses such as diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and discharge planning with physicians and case managers
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the electronic health record
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed

Requirements

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
• Minimum 1+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Ability to manage diverse patient caseloads with varying acuity levels

Schedule Details

Rotating day and night shifts; weekend and holiday rotation included. No call expected.
