Interventional Radiology Technologist – Des Moines, IA
Position Overview
The facility's Interventional Radiology department is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist for a 13-week travel contract. You'll work day shifts (4 x 10 hours, 40 hours/week) supporting a high-volume IR suite performing approximately 25 procedures daily.
Clinical Scope
You'll assist physicians during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including angiograms, embolizations, drain placements, stent placements, and biopsies. Duties include operating fluoroscopy and angiography equipment, preparing sterile fields, administering contrast media, monitoring vital signs and hemodynamic status, and ensuring radiation safety protocols. You'll also manage post-procedure care and document procedures accurately in the medical record. The call team covers emergencies at two facilities, with most urgent cases at the Level I trauma center.
Requirements
- ARRT certification in Radiography (R); ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional (CI) or Vascular-Interventional (VI) certification highly preferred
- Current Iowa radiologic technology license (or licensing eligible; active consideration given)
- Minimum 12 months hospital-based vascular/IR/cardiac catheterization experience
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Peripheral vascular and cardiac catheterization lab experience required
- Level I trauma experience preferred

Schedule & Call
Day shifts, Monday–Friday. Call coverage every third evening and every third weekend (7 p.m. Friday – 7 a.m. Monday). Holiday rotation applies; expect to work 1–2 of 3 summer holidays.
