Infusion Nurse – Oncology
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Infusion Nurse to deliver chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care infusions to oncology patients. This is a 13-week contract role, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, based in New York City. You may be required to travel to select facility locations as needed.
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license (primary source verification required)
- AHA BLS certification
- Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy certification
- Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical or chemotherapy infusion nursing experience
- Preceptor experience required
- Strong IV insertion, phlebotomy, and vascular assessment skills (peripheral, PICC, port access)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
Key Responsibilities
- Administer IV medications, chemotherapy, biologics, and fluid therapies per physician orders
- Assess patients pre-, during, and post-infusion; monitor for adverse reactions and complications
- Initiate and manage vascular access (peripheral IVs, PICC lines, implanted ports)
- Educate patients and families on infusion therapy, side effects, and home care instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams on treatment plans
- Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately
- Monitor lab values and treatment tolerance; adjust care per protocol
- Maintain infusion equipment, supplies, and infection control standards
